Wir kennen keine ältere Benutzung des Wortes Abscisse in lateinischen Originalschriften. Gleichwohl ist durch vermuthlich ein Wort in den mathematischen Sprachschatz eingeführt worden, welches gerade in der analytischen Geometrie sich als zukunftsreich bewährt hat.
